Hello, I'm Huiseung Atkinson, a Korean-born currently based in Cambridge, UK.

My creative journey began in Seoul, where I studied Industrial Design at Hongik University, one of Korea’s leading art and design schools.

Early in my career, I worked professionally as both a designer and a buyer, gaining hands-on experience in understanding materials, form, and the relationship between aesthetics and function. These roles gave me a strong foundation in the design world, shaping my sensibility and appreciation for both the creative and commercial sides of the industry.

In 2011, life took me in a new direction when I moved to the UK after marrying my husband. Since then, I’ve built a life here, raising a family and continuing to grow creatively including starting a wedding cake business, which allowed me to merge design with edible art — blending precision, creativity, and personal storytelling.

Now, I'm also currently studying for an MA in Art Psychotherapy. This new chapter of study has deepened my understanding of how art can be used not only for expression but also for healing — how visual language can communicate what words often cannot.

My personal art practice is rooted in abstraction, often exploring emotional landscapes drawn from both past and present experiences.

My work is intuitive, layered, and reflective — a visual processing of memory, feeling, and the unseen. I deliberately choose not to title my pieces, inviting viewers to experience them in their own way, without direction.

I believe that each person brings their own story, emotion, and interpretation to what they see — and that’s something I deeply value. Art, for me, is not only a creative act but a personal and emotional one — a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect.
